Actively involved since the 2000s in the research and development of power semiconductors using GaN, ROHM developed in 2022 proprietary GaN HEMTs that leverage the strengths of the company’s vertically integrated production system. Furthermore, it has developed the Power Stage IC that combines a dedicated gate driver IC and a GaN HEMT in a single package, offering a cost-effective solution for GaN devices that have historically presented challenges. In addition, they contribute to lower power consumption and miniaturization in a range of fields, from fast chargers and data centers to on-board chargers for xEVs.
