In fact,\u00a0 the ban on Afghan girls&#8217; education after grade six is correlated with a 25% increase in the rate of child marriage, according to a new <a href=\"https:\/\/c212.net\/c\/link\/?t=0&amp;l=en&amp;o=4190981-1&amp;h=661349358&amp;u=https%3A%2F%2Fwww.unwomen.org%2Fen%2Fdigital-library%2Fpublications%2F2024%2F06%2Fgender-country-profile-afghanistan&amp;a=UN+Women+report\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">UN Women report<\/a>. The ban is also associated with an increase of the risk of maternal mortality by at least 50%. \u00a0Mental health distress and depression is also soaring, and so are <a href=\"https:\/\/c212.net\/c\/link\/?t=0&amp;l=en&amp;o=4190981-1&amp;h=4226910448&amp;u=https%3A%2F%2Fwww.unwomen.org%2Fen%2Fnews-stories%2Fin-focus%2F2024%2F06%2Fafghanistan&amp;a=suicide+attempts\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">suicide attempts<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>In all, 4.2 million children are out of school. For 1,000 days, they have seen their human rights ripped from their hands. Imagine the long-term impact this will have on the people of <span class=\"xn-location\">Afghanistan<\/span>. Imagine the long-term impacts this will have on our global community.<\/p>\n<p>As we look to end hunger and poverty in <span class=\"xn-location\">Afghanistan<\/span> and beyond, the impact of investments in education is readily apparent.
