Over the years, China<\/span>, under Xi’s leadership, has taken concrete steps to advocate for developing countries, help Global South countries enhance their representation and voice in international governance, and promote a more just and equitable international order.<\/p>\n

At the 2022 G20 summit in Bali, Indonesia<\/span>, China<\/span> took the lead in supporting the African Union (AU)’s membership in the G20, a step that has now made Africa<\/span> a permanent seat at the table rather than a voice from the margins.<\/p>\n

China’s<\/span> effort has extended beyond the G20. China<\/span> supported the historic expansion of BRICS, broadening the group’s reach and reshaping it into what Beijing<\/span> describes as “a new journey of greater BRICS cooperation.” It has also promoted the Shanghai Cooperation Organization as a major regional platform bringing together countries across Eurasia.
