Hong Kong<\/span> takes Top Spot as Mainland China Surpasses India as Most-Represented System<\/b><\/p>\n

LONDON<\/span><\/span>, Nov. 4, 2025<\/span><\/span> \/PRNewswire\/ — QS Quacquarelli Symonds today released the QS World University Rankings: Asia<\/span> <\/a><\/b>2026, revealing<\/u><\/b> a region expanding in scale, diversifying in quality, and accelerating in research and international engagement.<\/p>\n

The University of Hong Kong<\/span><\/b>\u00a0rises to first place, overtaking Peking University<\/b> (2nd). Nanyang Technological University<\/span><\/b> climbs to joint third alongside the National University of Singapore<\/span><\/b>. This year’s edition evaluates 1,500+ institutions across 25 higher-education systems<\/b>, including 550+ new entrants<\/b>\u2014the ranking’s most extensive assessment to date.<\/p>\n

Mainland China<\/span> now leads representation with 395 ranked universities<\/b>, surpassing India<\/span> (294)<\/b>, followed by Japan<\/span> (147)<\/b> and South Korea<\/span> (103)<\/b>. Hong Kong SAR<\/b> records its strongest-ever showing, hosting five of Asia’s<\/span> top ten<\/b> universities.<\/p>\n
