In addition, the Movie was selected for the main competition at the 38th Tokyo<\/span> International Film Festival, where it will also have its World Premiere.<\/p>\n

Directed by award-winning Malaysian filmmaker Chong Keat Aun<\/span>, Mother Bhumi is a Malaysia\u2013Hong Kong\u2013Italy co-production movie, starring Fan Bingbing with Natalie Hsu<\/span>, Bai Run-yin, and Pearlly Chua. The Movie is set in the late 1990s in a rural area of northern Malaysia<\/span> near the Thai border, where multiple ethnic groups coexist. Amid ongoing rice-field disputes and rising unrest, Hong Im<\/span>, a widowed Chinese-Siamese farmer and ritual healer, transformed into Mother Bhumi, confronting the colonial wounds embedded deep within the land.
