Our largest-ever subject rankings reveal emerging markets\u2014particularly in <span class=\"xn-location\">Asia<\/span> and the Middle East\u2014are rising, as financial pressures mount on universities in the US, UK, <span class=\"xn-location\">Australia<\/span>, and <span class=\"xn-location\">Canada<\/span>.&#8221;<br \/>Analysis reveals <b>developments in future-industry areas <\/b>with 34 new entries in the top 100 for<b> Data Science &amp; AI<\/b>, <br \/>45 changes in top 50 Computer Science and <span class=\"xn-location\">China&#8217;s<\/span> first entry in the top 10 <b>Engineering &amp; Technology <\/b>faculty area. Eight new countries and territories feature, with 171 institutions appearing for the first time and 14 universities rising into top 10 related subject areas.<\/p>\n<p><b><u>Global Highlights<\/u><\/b><\/p>\n<ul type=\"disc\">\n<li><b><span class=\"xn-location\">The United States<\/span><\/b> leads with 3,245 ranked entries and tops 32 of 55 subjects, with <span class=\"xn-org\">Harvard<\/span> first in 19 and <span class=\"xn-org\">MIT<\/span> in 12.<\/li>\n<li><b>The UK<\/b> has 1,883 entries and tops 18 subjects, with <span class=\"xn-location\">Cambridge<\/span> earning four #1s and Oxford three \u2013 tied with ETH Zurich.<\/li>\n<li><b>Mainland <span class=\"xn-location\">China<\/span><\/b> leads in for number of new entries. Peking and Tsinghua earn two top-three spots each.
