Thanks to this expressway on the sea, blueberries, grapes and avocados from Peru<\/span> can arrive in Shanghai, China<\/span> in just 25 days, 10 days faster than in the past. In recent years, China<\/span> has been the fastest-growing importer of Peru’s<\/span> goods. From 2000 to 2022, trade in goods between the two countries increased 35-fold. In the first three quarters of 2024, the goods trade volume has reached 427.4 billion USD<\/span>, and the total volume for the year is estimated to exceed 500 billion. During President Xi’s visit in Peru<\/span>, the two countries signed a Belt and Road cooperation plan, bringing the number of Latin America<\/span> signatories to the plan to seven, including Argentina<\/span>, Chile<\/span>, and Uruguay<\/span>. In February, 2023, an e-commerce air cargo route between Xiamen<\/span> and Sao Paulo<\/span> was opened, via which over 10 million parcels have been sent from China<\/span> to Latin America<\/span> to date. Apparel and small items have been welcomed by Latin American customers. In recent years, building the digital Belt and Road was proposed by China<\/span> and Latin American countries, which seeks to overcome the challenges brought by distance through digital technologies, and achieve collaboration beyond geographical limitations.
