Over recent years,\u00a0Sinopec has significantly advanced its capabilities in CCUS technology; notable projects include the Qilu Petrochemical-Shengli Oilfield CCUS Demonstration Project, and China’s<\/span> first megaton-level long-distance CO\u2082\u00a0pipeline project. Collaborative ventures have also been initiated with major corporations like\u00a0Shell,\u00a0China Baowu, and BASF, among others,\u00a0launching China’s<\/span> first open-access mega-ton-scale CCUS project.<\/p>\n

Since deploying the CCUS technologies nearly ten years ago,\u00a0more than 8.55 million tons of CO\u2082\u00a0have been recycled\u00a0by Sinopec, and about\u00a05.75 million tons are being injected,\u00a0contributing significantly towards enhanced oil recovery efforts yielding over 600,000\u00a0tons.<\/p>\n

Sinopec’s ongoing efforts include importing 180 million tons of crude oil annually from Belt and Road Initiative countries, engaging in substantial trade of refined oil products amounting to over 20 million tons per year,\u00a0as well as nearly 7 million tons of LNG trades. The company is actively involved in 32 oil and gas exploration projects along these routes.<\/p>\n

The establishment of Sinopec Tech Middle East in Saudi Arabia<\/span> marks another step towards fostering open innovation ecosystems globally. Collaborations extend across Europe<\/span> and Southeast Asia<\/span> with numerous prestigious universities,\u00a0enhancing scientific partnerships that have led to multiple technology licensing agreements since 2013,\u00a0involving critical refining processes like catalytic cracking.<\/p>\n

In addition, Sinopec has implemented green production technologies locally,\u00a0such as using ultra-quiet zero-emission drilling rigs in Uganda,\u00a0which minimize environmental impact on wildlife.
